Privacy Policy

NorthPane is a dual-pane file manager for macOS, operated by Radek Coural ("we"). The short version: NorthPane does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party services. Everything the app does stays on your Mac.

What data the app processes

Files and folders

NorthPane reads and writes files only in the locations you grant it access to through the standard macOS open panel. Those grants are stored as security-scoped bookmarks in the app's own sandbox container and never leave your Mac. The app has no server of its own and uploads nothing anywhere.

Server connections (SFTP, FTP/FTPS)

When you connect to a server, NorthPane talks directly to the server you configured; no traffic passes through us or any intermediary. Saved passwords and key passphrases are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. Connection profiles (host, port, user name) are stored locally in the app's container. SSH host keys are checked against your own ~/.ssh/known_hosts file.

What the app does not do

• No registration, no user accounts.
• No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting sent to us.
• No advertising and no advertising SDKs.
• No selling or sharing of any data, because none is collected.

Deleting your data

Everything NorthPane stores lives on your Mac: folder grants and connection profiles in the app's container, secrets in the macOS Keychain. Deleting the app removes the container; saved passwords can be removed in the app (delete the connection) or with the Keychain Access utility.

Changes

We may update this policy; the new version will be published on this page with its effective date.
